Flapjack

I use a large tray measuring 32x19cm. If you tray is smaller than this, then your flapjacks will be thicker and you may need to adjust the cooking time.

Makes/Serves: tray

Ingredients

  • 100 g Soft Brown Sugar
  • 130 g Unsalted Butter
  • 100 g Golden Syrup
  • 240 g Oats


Method

  1. Pre heat the oven.
  2. Put the sugar, golden syrup and butter into a saucepan and over a low heat. Stir until melted.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the oats and any extra flavourings you want.
  4. Stir thoroughly.
  5. Press the mixture down into a greased tray and bake for 20-25 mins.

Ideas for extra flavour

  • Add dried fruit.
  • A teaspoon of ground ginger adds a nice little kick.
  • Make it really fancy by topping with the caramel from my millionaires shortbread recipe.
