Mince Pies

  Cooking temperature: 180°C



  • 300 g Plain Flour
  • 75 g White Vegetable Fat
  • 75 g Margarine
  • 6 tablespoons Water
  • 411 g Mincemeat


  1. Preheat the oven.
  2. Grease your bun tins.
  3. Rub the flour, margarine and vegetable fat together then add the water to make a shortcrust pastry. More about shortcrust pastry.
  4. Roll out the pastry and cut the pie cases with a 3 inch cutter and the lids with a 2 inch cutter.
  5. Place the pie cases into the greased bun tins and put a teaspoon of mincemeat into each one.
  6. Brush the edges of the lids with some water before placing them on the pies.
  7. Use a sharp knife to poke a little hole into the top of each pie - this is to let the steam out.
  8. Brush the top of the mince pies with milk so that they go a nice golden colour.
  9. Cook for about 25 mins.
